This International Women’s Day, comedians’ Nicole Scott and April Louise hosted a special all-female comedy take over at Heist Brewery in Sheffield. The event raised the roof with laughter and raised over £1000 for local women’s charity YWCA Yorkshire!
Broadcaster and presenter best known for working on Big John at Breakfast, Liesl Soards, headlined the event which featured a powerhouse line-up of comedians including Nicole Scott (who as well as being a comedian, is a Volunteer Coordinator at YWCA Yorkshire) and Gags for Good co-founder, April Louise.
YWCA Yorkshire supports over 800 people annually across Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield. The charity provides bespoke support packages and safe places for people to live, recover and thrive, after experiencing homelessness, trauma and relationship breakdowns. The money raised from the International Women’s Day comedy night will be used to fund the Little Blossoms playgroup in Rotherham. The playgroup brings parents, carers and young children together for peer-to-peer support, access to specialist services, and learning and development through play. It’s a special place where families feel safe and connected.
Comedian Nicole Scott said: “Bringing people together through laughter for such an important cause was truly something special. As someone who works closely with YWCA Yorkshire, it means so much to see support going directly to the Little Blossoms playgroup at Fleming Gardens. We had so much fun creating this night, and raising £1050.50 together just shows what female empowerment is all about. We are excited to bring you more laughs and more fundraising activities, keep following along for more.”
Comedian and Co-founder of CIC Gags for Good, April Louise, said: “What an incredible night! Huge thank you to the six fierce female comedians who brought the energy, the laughs, and made it all unforgettable. It was such a joy to be part of something that not only made people laugh but made a real difference too. We’re so proud to support YWCA Yorkshire and the Little Blossoms playgroup. We’re just getting started. Make sure you’re following our socials for more fundraising, more female empowerment and more laughs!”
