Equal But Different

On Thursday 27th July, two of our lovely staff members from Rotherham Services attended the Different But Equal event at the Carlton Park Hotel. Beci from the Early Help Team, and Lisa from YPTS, attended the event, which had been organised by the Different But Equal Board, in partnership with the Voice and Influence Partnership and Rotherham Children, Young People and Families’ Consortium.

The Different but Equal Board is made up of around 20 young people, from different communities, different backgrounds and interest groups. This group of young people are a true representation of young people in Rotherham and they are passionate about giving young people in Rotherham a true voice.

The event was organised and attended by young people, and included a drama performance, activity workshops such as sports and crafts, music performances from a number of local bands, and a “speed” consultation around issues affecting young people in Rotherham.

There was a “market place” of services available in Rotherham, where Beci and Lisa had a stall with leaflets and information about all our Rotherham Services. This was a great networking opportunity, where we were able to provide information to both the young people present, as well as other local agencies. We were able to promote our services, and make links and new contacts with other agencies so we can work in partnership to provide excellent services to all young people in Rotherham.

Congratulations to all the young people who organised the event – it was a great success and we are pleased to have been a part of it!
